| Some very special young athletes were recognized last Thursday night at the Beavercreek High School Varsity Hockey awards ceremony. Coaches Tramonte, Welch, and Boone had the pleasure of presenting Senior Co-Captain Kris McClure 1st team All-Southwest Ohio High School Hockey League Goalie. This three year starter received this award as voted on by the league coaches and marks the first time in its three year history a Creek skater has made the 1st team. Congratulations to Kris for being singled out as the best goaltender in the SWOHSHL! And Kris's honors did not stop here. He also received the coveted "Eric Gartz Award" for tenacity, dedication, and love of the game, as well as the "Seventh Player" MVP award for 1999-2000. This years most prolific scorer, Senior Co-Captain Matt Hess was singled out as "Offensive Player of the Year" while Sophomore newcomer Matt Parker took away the "Defensive Player of the Year" plaques. The season's "Rookie of the Year" recipient was Freshman Jason Culham, while "Most Improved went to first-year Senior Pete Johnson. The "Coaches Award" was presented to first-year Senior Steve Datkuliak. All Leaque Honorable mentions went to Jason Culham, Matt Parker, Matt Hess, and Senior Derek Johnson. The league also recognized players with academic excellence with the "Academic All- League Scholastic Team." Honored on the 1st team were Steve Datkuliak and Pete Johnson. The requirements for this award is to have a GPA of 3.75 or better. "Honorable Mention" went to Matt Parker, Matt Meier, Mike Folino, and Rick DeBorde with GPA's of 3.5 to 3.75. Congratulations to all these hard working Creek Skaters! |
