Team Honored At Varsity Banquet
The Awards Banquet for the Varsity hockey team was held in the Beavercreek High School Commons on Thursday, March 13, 2003. After the players and their guests enjoyed a wonderful carry-in dinner, Head Coach Matt Tramonte presented a review of the 2002-2003 Creek Hockey season and he also spoke of the successes experienced by this year's team. The Coaching Staff presented team members with their Varsity letters and each of the Seniors was allowed the opportunity to speak about their Creek Hockey experiences. Coach Tramonte then announced the winners of the team's individual player and All-League awards for the season. Dan McClure presented the "Founder's Line" award to the person whose volunteer activities most significantly contributed to the continuing success of the Creek Hockey program. The banquet concluded with the announcement of the Captain and Assistant Captains for the 2003-2004 Varsity Hockey season. Individual and All-League award recipients for the 2002-2003 season went to the following individuals:

Beavers Enjoy Most Successful Season In History
Every high school hockey team in Ohio (except one) finds their season ended abruptly with a loss and bittersweet memories of what could have been. The Beaver's season ended no differently than that of 69 other teams participating in District and State Tournament play; however, the players, managers, and coaches should look back on the 2002-2003 season with immense pride and personal satisfaction for significantly "raising the bar" for future Creek Hockey Varsity teams. This year's Varsity squad set new records in every team statistical category: Most Wins (15), Fewest Losses (10), Most Goals Scored (94), Fewest Goals Allowed (74), and Fewest Penalty Minutes (279). In addition, several individual Varsity records were either set or tied by members of this year's team: Most Points in a Career (Jason Culham - 92), Most Points in a Career by a Forward (Jason Culham - 92), Most Points by a Freshman (Judd Steele - 24), Most Points in a Game (Sean Kelley and John Haverland - 5), Most Goals in a Career (Jason Culham - 48), Most Assists in a Career (Jason Culham - 44), Most Assists in a Season (Chris Clark and Judd Steele - 20), Most Assists in a Game (Sean Kelley - 4), Plus/Minus for a Career (John Haverland - minus 2), Plus/Minus for a Season (John Haverland - plus 23), Lowest GAA in a Season (David Smith - 2.49), and Best Save Percentage in a Season (David Folino - 90.4). Members of this year's squad also set several individual skills records: Speed & Stick Handling (John Haverland - 0:19:63), Shooting Accuracy (Matt Morandi and Zach Baldwin - 4 targets in 6 shots), Hardest Shot (Drew Ehrhart - 85 mph), Speed & Stick Handling by a Goalie (David Smith - 0:29:41), and Shooting Accuracy by a Goalie (David Folino - 2 targets in 10 shots). This team may not have been the biggest, the strongest, or the fastest team in Ohio high school hockey; however, they played with the most courage and heart of any team witnessed this year. Never gloating in victory or disheartened in defeat, the young men and women of the Beavercreek High School Varsity Ice Hockey team brought great credit to their school and their community. On behalf of all the fans that witnessed the play of this year's squad, thanks for the wonderful memories.
