The Beavercreek Beavers opened the SWOHSHL Tournament play against the St. Xavier Bombers on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Cincinnnati Gardens. Creek was looking to avenge an they SWOHSHL tie with St X earlier in the year. The Bombers had a different idea. The Beaves jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period outshooting their opponent 12-7. The Bombers put in a late 1st period power play goal to keep the score close 2-1 at the end of the 1st period. Creek extended the lead to 3-1 early in the 2nd period, but the Bomber showed spirit to score two unanswered power play goals and tie the game 3-3 mid-way thorugh the 2nd period. Creek finally responded with two even strength goals to take a 5-3 lead into the locker room at the end of the 2nd period. The Beavers out-shot St X 14-10 in the 2nd. Creek extended their lead to 6-3 just under three minutes into the 3rd period. The Bombers remainded undaunted and proceeded to out-hustle, out-shoot, and out-score the Beavers over the final 9 minutes of the game. Three unanswered Bomber goals made the game 6-6 at the end of regulation. St X outshot Creek 16-8 in the 3rd period. The score remained tied at the end of a 5 minute overtime period. A five man shoot-out yielded a 1-1 tie. St X finally broke the tie when their 7th shooter scored and their goalie stopped Creek's 7th shooter. The Bombers earned a hard fought win. Creek takes a tough loss and an early exit from the league tournament.
