| Creek Gets Early Lead Then Holds On to Beat St Charles |
The Beavercreek Beavers faced-off with the St Charles Cardinals in the third game of the Kilbourne Invitational at the Chiller North on Sunday, December 6 at 10:00 AM. Creek jumped on top just three minutes into the game with a power play goal from Green assisted by Kyle Cochran. The Beavers added another off Kullar's stick with an assist to Green before the 1st period expired. After St. Charles drew to within one goal, Kullar notched an unassisted goal to put Creek up 3-1. St Charles added a power play goal to tighten the game to 3-2 with just under two minutes remaining. Creek held off the Cardinals 5 on 4, 5 on 3, then 6 on 3 (goalie pulled) in the final seventy five seconds to escape with the win and a berth in the finals. Creek netminder McClure made 26 of 28 saves for an outstanding 92.9 save percentage. The win gave the Beavers 11 1/2 tournament points to put them in the Championship game against SWOHSHL rival Troy Trojans who garnered 12 points. |
